In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the Auburn softball team beats Alabama in the first game of the series and a 4-star 2025 point guard is considering a trip to the Plains

The Auburn softball team picked up a strong win Thursday against the Alabama Crimson Tide. With right handed pitcher Maddie Penta on the mound, the Tigers were up 4-0 in the sixth inning. Though Alabama was able to score three runs in the seventh inning, Auburn held on and added another dub to their record over the rival Tide.

"It is very big," said Penta, per Auburn Undercover, who got her third consecutive win over Alabama. "The rivalry is so intense. The crowd was great today. It was a great team win. I hope we can carry it in the next two days."

The Tigers will return to action tonight at Jane B. Moore field at 5 p.m. for game two against Alabama, and will finish off the series Saturday at the same time.

4-star 2025 point guard considering a trip to the Plains

Auburn basketball recruiting continues as head coach Bruce Pearl tries to reload his roster after several departure's from last year's squad. The Tigers saw Tre Donaldson, KD Johnson, and Aden Holloway all hit the transfer portal and are still looking for talent and depth.

So far, Pearl has already brought in a transfer point guard, JP Pegues, from Furman, and incoming freshman Tahaad Pettiford will add to the position as well. Now, a point guard in the recruiting class of 2025 has rising interest in the Tigers.

According to Auburn Undercover, 4-star PG Tyler Jackson is considering a visit to the Plains after forming strong relationships with the Tigers' coaching staff.

"They were actually at my pro day, that's the crazy part. I talk with coach Bruce, coach Ira and they just loved me at pro day. It was a great day," said Jackson.

Jackson plans to narrow down his options towards the end of the summer and have a decision made in the fall.
