In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, quarterback Hank Brown discusses his mentality before his first SEC start, and 4-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony updates his recruitment
Last weekend, redshirt freshman quarterback Hank Brown breathed new life into the Auburn football offense when he took over the starting job from Payton Thorne. He was the highest-graded QB in the SEC according to PFF and showed good decision-making throughout the game.
However, there is a big difference between New Mexico and Arkansas, and the Tigers' new QB1 is gearing up to make his first conference start in orange and blue.
"I think from the first week, I've tried to prepare like I was the starter," Brown said, per Auburn Undercover. "Now that I am, I will continue to prepare, obviously, in that way. There's a level of intensity that rises just within the team now that it's SEC play. My challenge for the team is that we approach every week as the most important game. That's what I'm going to continue to do."
Kiyan Anthony updates his recruitment
Meanwhile, head coach Bruce Pearl and his staff are hard at work on the recruiting trail for Auburn basketball. The Tigers have been in the mix for 4-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony (son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony) for some time, and recently Anthony offered an update on his recruitment.
The #34 overall prospect in the class of 2025, Anthony has narrowed his choices down to six: Rutgers, Syracuse, USC, Ohio State, Florida State, and Auburn basketball.
“They plan on coming to an open gym next week and they've also been trying to finalize a visit date for next month," said Anthony about Auburn basketball, per 247 Sports. "I’m looking forward to speaking with them next week.”
Anthony has two official visits left on his schedule and plans to make his final decision at the end of October or early November.
