The Auburn softball team ended their season at the Tallahassee Regionals against Florida State a couple weeks ago, and the loss also marked the end of head coach Mickey Dean's career on the Plains. In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, AD John Cohen provides an update on the softball coaching search and NBA star Carmelo Anthony's son has his eye on the Tigers.
According to Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen, the search for the next softball head coach is nearly complete, per The Montgomery Advertiser.
"I do feel like we're fairly close to having a decision made," said Coh But it's like everything else we deal with, we live in an information age. Now that you have these things (phones), there's more information to go through and to decipher than ever before. So, it just takes a while."

Though Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl has his roster locked in for the 2024-25 season, it's never too early to look ahead and begin recruiting for the next season.
According to On3 Sports' Joe Tipton, 4-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony — son of 10x NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony — is interested in visiting the Plains. Anthony is ranked as the #29 overall player in the recruiting class of 2025 and is working on scheduling an official visit with Auburn basketball though he does not have an official offer.
Anthony has already taken two official visits, to Syracuse and Florida State, and is working to schedule visits to Ohio State and Indiana in the month of September alongside his Auburn visit.
