In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, head coach Hugh Freeze reacts to losing the SEC opener and KeAndre Lambert-Smith talks team adversity

It was a terrible weekend for Auburn football. Any hope that was garnered from last weekend's game against New Mexico has been flushed down the drain with a demoralizing loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the SEC opener.

For fans it was miserable to watch, and that was a sentiment that head coach Hugh Freeze echoed when he addressed the media after the game.

"Just, I don't have the words. It is just sickening," Freeze said, per The Montgomery Advertiser. "Sickening that we can't take care of the football on the offense and just got – I've got to get that fixed.

"And so obviously we're not doing a very good job coaching quarterbacks right now. I have no idea who's starting next game sitting here right now. But I'll go back to work (Sunday), and I'll be as locked in as I've ever been to try and get it fixed."

KeAndre Lambert-Smith on facing adversity

On the Tigers' struggling offense, one of the bright lights is former Penn State wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith. With four years of experience under his belt, Lambert-Smith is the most important veteran presence in the wide receiver room, and has taken his responsibility as a leader seriously.

For Lambert-Smith, the blame does not lie squarely on the shoulders of the quarterback but is the responsibility of the whole team.

"We’re just facing adversity as a team right now," he said, per The Montgomery Advertiser. "We believe in the QB room as an offense and as a team. They’re going to get that handled and make the corrections. The receivers are going to take accountability for a few of those picks, tipped balls that we should have been deeper on the route or in a different spot. We’re going to take accountability, and we’re all going to come together as a collective and be better."
