In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, a senior defensive lineman has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft and fans react to the retirement of Nick Saban
Right before the beginning of winter workouts for the Auburn football team, another player has declared his intentions to pursue a career in the NFL. Senior defensive lineman Justin Rogers, who transferred to the Plains ahead of the 2023 season, will not return for another year.
Before his year on the Plains, Rogers spent three seasons at Kentucky, where he racked up 60 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks. At Auburn, Rogers totalled 17 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack.
Rogers made the announcement on his personal X account, and thanked his coaching staffs at both Auburn and Kentucky.
Fans react to the retirement of Nick Saban
A day that seemed like it would never arrive has finally come. Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced yesterday that after 16 years with the Crimson Tide, he will be retiring ahead of the 2024 season. It was news that shook the world of college football but hit especially close to home for fans of Alabama and Auburn football.
In Tuscaloosa, Bama fans created a memorial at the Nick Saban statue on campus, bringing oatmeal cream pies, wine, a 'get well soon' balloon, and bottles of coke, among other random things. Students gathered around the statue to sing songs and pay their respects to their coach, who is not dead, but just retiring.
Meanwhile, on the Plains, people were celebrating. It would be inaccurate to report that 'Auburn rolled Toomers' for Saban's retirement, but a few students rolled the trees after the news. The celebrations seem to be taking place on X for the most part while Auburn football fans relish in the fact that for the first time in nearly 20 years, Alabama football is conducting a coaching search.
