In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, a transfer linebacker sets a visit to the Plains and several former Auburn football players announce transfer destinations

Earlier this week it was confirmed by On3 Sports that former South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs will be visiting several SEC programs including Auburn football. The sophomore, who is expected on the Plains this Tuesday, will have two years of eligibility remaining and will visit both Missouri and Alabama in addition to the Tigers.

With Cam Riley, Wesley Steiner and even Brenton Williams entering the portal, head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are likely looking for more talent and depth in the Tigers' secondary. After the 2023 season, Jacobs racked up 56 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles, and told On3 about what he's looking for in his next program.

“I’m looking for a positive environment I can thrive in,” he told On3. “I’m dominant on the field, and I want to be a part of a system that will allow me to do so.”

While the Tigers have been bringing in players from the transfer portal and hosting visits, several players have also parted ways with the program, including edge Brenton Williams, wide receiver Jay Fair, and cornerback Colton Hood.

Brenton Williams, from Opelika, Alabama, entered the portal at the beginning of the spring window and announced last week that he has committed to head coach Hugh Freeze's former school, Liberty. Williams will have four years of elibility remaining.

Jay Fair, the Tigers' most productive receiver last season, entered the portal last week and quickly found his new program. Fair announced Sunday afternoon that he would be heading west to play for Lincoln Riley and USC.

And finally, cornerback Colton Hood entered the portal in tandem with Tyler Scott, another cornerback who made the decision to withdraw from the portal. Sunday afternoon it was confirmed that Hood and his brother, who previously played at UCF, will be playing together at Colorado next season.
