Blue-chip 2025 Auburn football recruit breaks Alabama high school TD record

Hugh Freeze's Auburn football program already had a big weekend planned with Notre Dame QB commit Deuce Knight being projected to flip to the Plains and several other ESPN 300 blue-chips joining him, all during a winnable contest Cal, but he got a major update to his 2025 class on September 6.

4-star Elba, Alabama running back Alvin Henderson scored an AHSAA-record 10 rushing touchdowns on September 6 against McKenzie; somehow in a four-overtime 80-78 loss. The Tigers' defensive woes weren't Henderson's responsibility, though.

His historic outburst, specifically his 435 Yards and double-digit touchdown total on 40 carries, certainly was. Henderson, an active recruiter for Freeze's Tigers, now has more ammunition on the recruiting trail.

So does Freeze. Who doesn't want to team up with an explosive backfield talent with a 10-touchdown ceiling?

Freeze is great with interpersonal relationships and connecting with recruits on a spiritual level. That alone got him into the top 20 recruiting rankings last year despite the damage Bryan Harsin did to the program in the two years prior.

Being from Oxford, Mississippi, though, he needed the local touch, and adding Ozark, Alabama's Charles Kelly was a major addition that is helping on both sides of the ball. Kelly played a role in landing Henderson and Southside (Selma) WR/ATH Derick Smith.

With Freeze having to work overtime on the trail, he didn't see eye to eye with Philip Montgomery in 2023, and that likely was evident to recruits last year too. Having Derrick Nix in as Freeze's new right-hand man at offensive coordinator is also one of the biggest differences between last season's staff and this one.

Freeze turned this ship around quickly. His 2025 class is breaking records and can soon be breaking the internet with several potentially imminent blue-chip flips and commits coming.
