Conference realignment experts turn on FSU after 0-2 start, wonder if B1G, Big 12, SEC are still interested

FSU losing 28-13 to a BC squad that the Seminoles were a two-score favorite over on September 2 continued a nightmare season for Mike Norvell's program. Not only are their 2024/25 College Football Playoff hopes up in smoke, but they may not have the same value in conference realignment.

Certainly, Mike Farrell (of Mike Farrell Sports) and Greg Swaim don't think so.

Farrell had jokes. "The Godfather of Recruiting" posted a humorous GIF of what the Big Ten and SEC are seeing after consecutive losses for FSU to Georgia Tech and now BC.

Swaim, on the other hand, accused FSU of having "Conference Realignment Syndrome" before even leaving the ACC -- claiming that the Seminoles are bad ahead of schedule for teams that join a new conference.

"While most teams with CRS don't begin showing symptoms until a year or two in their new conference, one school made their intentions known to leave their current conference very early, loud and often," Swaim prefaced before saying, "So much so, that they may have contracted a new and much more devastating strain of CRS.

"Instead of waiting to suck until after they got into their new conference, FSU seems to have started sucking well BEFORE they even leave the ACC."

FSU needs to fire Mike Norvell before next round of conference realignment

Norvell has lost the locker room. Despite bringing in several transfers from Nick Saban's last Alabama squad, FSU has fallen to the bottom of the ACC during a season they were largely expected to dominate.

At this point, the only way to mitigate the damage and try to recoup some credibility before the next round of conference realignment is to fire Norvell.

Coming back from 0-2 is not easy, and with Miami and Notre Dame looking like potential College Football Playoff contention, 8-4 might be the Seminoles ceiling in 2024.
