Hugh Freeze's Auburn football program seems to have their guy at the QB position for the 2025 recruiting class. For the second straight week, Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight will be visiting the Plains when the Tigers host Cal per On3's Steve Wiltfong.
No, it wasn't the "Fong Bomb" Auburn fanatics were hoping for. Absent was an official announcement for Knight flipping to AU. But a second straight visit bodes well for the George County (MS) star's chances of committing to the Tigers.
Knight must want to see what Jordan-Hare Stadium looks like with a Power 4 school in town. Cal's fans won't be traveling in droves, but there should be an even more intense atmosphere than Auburn's rout of Alabama A&M.
Deuce Knight has 'Fong Bomb' crystal ball to land with Auburn football
Knight already has a "Fong Bomb" crystal ball projecting his flip to Auburn. Wiltfong logged it in early August and Notre Dame On SI writer Nick Shepkowski believes the On3 Vice President didn't just put that out there for clicks.
"If I had to guess right now I would say that a Deuce Knight flip to Auburn is very likely coming in a matter of days," Shepkowski prefaced before saying, "That's not my reporting, that's me simply seeing one of the most respected college football recruiting insiders putting out that prediction and knowing Wiltfong isn't simply just making that up for clicks and that when he makes a prediction, he hits on over 90% of them for a reason."
While there seemed to be a break in Knight's recruitment in mid-to-late August, being on Auburn's campus seems to have changed his mind. Knight is one of six recruits in the 2025 ESPN 300 who the Tigers can nab to help propel AU to the No. 1 overall class in the country.
It seems Knight can't get enough of Auburn -- even after the school he's currently committed to just picked up the biggest win of Week 1 traveling to Texas A&M and winning by double digits.
It feels like that's the precursor to a decision that'll have Tiger fans even higher on Freeze's recruiting efforts than they already are. If that's possible.
