A pair of high school teammates are set to attend Auburn football's Big Cat Weekend and could commit to the Tigers

This weekend is Big Cat Weekend, the biggest recruiting event of the year for the Auburn football program. Highly-ranked prospects from all over and their families will be descending upon the Plains this weekend for food, fellowship, and fun with the Tigers.

Historically, Big Cat Weekend has been action-packed, often producing a couple of commits for the Tigers to pick up some recruiting momentum late in the summer. At this year's event, keep an eye on a pair of in-state teammates from Thompson High School: Anquon Fegans and Jared Smith.

Fegans is a 4-star safety who was once committed to USC before walking his commitment back and taking a closer look at Auburn football. He visited the Plains twice this spring, and is set to spend Big Cat Weekend with the Tigers. Though he officially visited five other schools — LSU, Georgia, Miami, Clemson, and Washington — he has received multiple expert predictions to end up choosing Auburn.

The safety's commitment date is set for July 29, the Monday after Big Cat Weekend, but with all the reports indicating Fegans is trending to the Tigers, it's completely possible he decides to pop early.

Smith is a 5-star edge who was once trending to South Carolina, but recently interest in Auburn football has picked up and he will arrive on campus this weekend for the recruiting event. He was previously on the Plains in March, and officially visited USC, Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. However, the Tigers have surged in his recruitment recently, and like Fegans, he has set a commitent date close to the end of Big Cat Weekend on August 3. Also like Fegans, Smith has recently received several expert predictions to land on the Plains.

Anything could happen this weekend, but the pair of Thompson teammates are definitely a duo to keep an eye on.
