Quotes of Note: Kentucky HC Mark Stoops on Auburn football matchup
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops speaks with the media about the Wildcats' upcoming matchup with the Auburn Tigers
The Auburn football team will be looking to pick up their first conference win this weekend when they travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. The Tigers have won 18 of the last 19 matchups against the Wildcats, but for this Auburn team, that means nothing.
Auburn is sitting at #15 in the conference ahead of only Mississippi State with a 2-5 record and a 0-4 record in the conference. Kentucky isn't doing much better at #14 with a 3-4 record and one conference win over Ole Miss.
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops spoke with the media today about his upcoming matchup with Hugh Freeze's Auburn Tigers.
On facing Auburn football, per 247 Sports:
"Looking forward to getting back at it. We have another challenge this week with Auburn. Auburn is a team, you look at the record, and everybody's going to think that it's a bad football team. Comes down to turnovers for them, they are a very good team. Turnover margin has been the big issue. For us, another big challenge. We have to worry about ourselves and getting better and putting it all together and playing a good football game."
On Auburn's wide receivers, per Auburn Undercover:
"They're talented; they have a lot of explosive plays, and they can go. I think with (quarterback Payton) Thorne, he's really settled in, and you see a confidence and a comfort level at the quarterback position, where early there was some instability, but I think he's really solidified himself with some really talented receivers and a really physical, really talented, running back."
On QB Payton Thorne's ability to run, per Auburn Undercover:
"He's more mobile than you think and like I said I can see him settling in. They had every opportunity to beat a very very good Missouri team on the road and had every opportunity to win that game, and so you can see it coming."
The Tigers and the Wildcats will kick off from Lexington this Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
