Auburn is now 4-4 and 2-4 in the SEC after an embarrassing 45-15 loss to Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi, on Saturday. With their third loss in October, the Tigers are officially irrelevant again on the national stage.
Within the conference, how far did Auburn fall? After all, the Tigers are hardly the only disappointing big spender in the SEC.
Let's take a look at the updated SEC football power rankings after Week 9:
No. 1: Georgia
That Deep South's Oldest Rivalry loss to Auburn feels like a fever dream at this point. UGA came out of the bye week and got back in the win column with a 27-8 destruction of Florida in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party game in Atlanta.
No. 2: Kentucky
Kentucky was on its bye and got knocked down because we don't know how good a Will Stein Wildcats team is. We have plenty of proof of Kirby Smart's concept in Athens.
No. 3: Alabama
Alabama was on its bye week but has a make-or-break game against LSU this Saturday.
No. 4: LSU
Same deal for Lane Kiffin's squad. LSU had its bye, but has the Crimson Tide to look forward to, with just as many, if not more, stakes in Baton Rouge.
No. 5: Texas
Texas finally looked the part during a 31-3 win over Mississippi State on Saturday. The Longhorns still have time to turn this around, though Texas also has a date with LSU in Death Valley on the horizon on November 14.
No. 6: Ole Miss
The Rebels bounced back from the Longhorns last weekend with a dominant display against Auburn in Oxford, Mississippi, on Saturday. Ole Miss has UGA next weekend, with everything on the line.
No. 7: Tennessee
Tennessee had the bye week to get itself together after losing to South Carolina 27-24 in Week 8. We'll see if the Vols are ready for Kentucky on Rocky Top.
No. 8: South Carolina
The Gamecocks have quietly won three in a row after blasting Oklahoma 42-25 in Week 9. Shane Beamer's seat has cooled down considerably.
No. 9: Missouri
Missouri handled Arkansas 34-10 in Fayetteville, and now hosts Texas with a chance to prove the Tigers are for real.
No. 10: Florida
The Gators are firmly out of the CFP picture, proving Jon Sumrall wasn't some miracle worker that AU missed out on. It'll take some time down in Gainesville, too.
No. 11: Texas A&M
The bye week was the best thing for Texas A&M. Everyone forgot how utterly disappointing the Aggies have been for a week, and Mike Elko didn't have to hear the same noise many of his SEC counterparts did.
No. 12: Oklahoma
Sure, the Sooners continued a highly disappointing season in Norman, but they at least fought until the end against South Carolina, putting up 15 in the fourth quarter.
No. 13: Auburn
Auburn's lack of fight in the fourth quarter was something Alex Golesh pointed out postgame. The Tigers had their worst overall showing of the season, but November could see Auburn rise again. Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Samford are the next three games.
No. 14: Arkansas
The Razorbacks proved they are a bottom-feeder by laying an egg against Mizzou. Auburn cannot lose to this team on Saturday.
No. 15: Mississippi State
Injuries have derailed State's season. Once starting quarterback Kamario Taylor went down with a season-ending injury, the Bulldogs were set to descend in the SEC.
No. 16: Vanderbilt
The only winless team in conference play. Self-explanatory.
