Former Florida Gators head coach and current James Madison Dukes headman Billy Napier made serious waves with UF's fanbase after making some very interesting comments during a conversation with On3's Wilson Alexander that was published on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, some major recruiting wins took place. None, though, was more shocking than Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes edging out Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs for an offensive trench product from the Midwest.

Here were some of the biggest SEC headlines from the past few days on the gridiron:

Billy Napier doesn't own up to failures at Florida

Napier did a lot of excuse-making while discussing what went wrong over his nearly four seasons in Gainesville. Napier blamed the introduction of NIL for why the Gators were never able to become a winning team from 2022 to October 2025.

“I think that we really struggled to manage the workload that came with NIL, that came with the portal,” Napier told On3. “I think in general there, the work continued to be loaded up in terms of my responsibility to our team and to our entire organization. So, for me, in general, if I can sum it up, I would say the ability to delegate and hire exceptional people in certain areas and hand over more responsibility to those guys and empower them to do their job at a high level."

Napier would go on to tout the coaches who stayed at the University of Florida and didn't follow him to James Madison. It's unclear if Napier caught on to how many people would take that. Hint: they might believe Napier was the weak link and those coaches were hired by the Gators' brain trust with plans for them beyond Napier.

Oklahoma stuns Notre Dame for 4-star QB, 5-star WR chooses Oregon over LSU and Vols

4-star Kalamazoo DL chooses Colorado over Georgia

While the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Vanderbilt Commodores were in the mix, it's hard to ignore the central narrative in 4-star Kalamazoo City (MI) offensive tackle Dewey Young's commitment: Colorado beat Georgia for a recruit up front.

Obviously, the Dawgs will be in the mix for other tackles. Still, it cannot be lost that UGA only has one current blue-chip tackle in their ranks. Credit Buffs OL coach Gunnar White and director of player personnel Darrius Darden-Box for the upset.

Some were saying Young could play on the interior, but by not landing in Athens, he has a chance to be a major player at left tackle in Boulder.

LSU keeps 4-star Louisiana product home and away from Ole Miss

The LSU Tigers continued to stick it to the Ole Miss Rebels, keeping 4-star Ruston safety Jayden Anding in the Pelican State. South Louisiana is a unique culture, and Anding is buying into it from the heart of North Louisiana.

Anding continues a recruiting heater for Lane Kiffin, who finally got the ball rolling for the 2027 cycle in June. As Kiffin continues to win the state for the Tigers, he'll fulfill the prophecy Nick Saban laid out over two decades ago of winning the state before conquering the rest of the map.
