The Oklahoma Sooners landed a 4-star 2028 quarterback who had decommitted from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the last week. Money is clearly abundant in Norman, since said flipped QB grew up a Notre Dame fan and seemed locked into his commitment before this sudden change of events.

Elsewhere, the Oregon Ducks landed a 5-star receiver who had the LSU Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers in his final four. Also, the Ole Miss Rebels beat out the Alabama Crimson Tide and Missouri Tigers for a 4-star EDGE.

Here were the headlines around the SEC right before Independence Day:

Oklahoma flips 4-star Notre Dame fan from the Fighting Irish

4-star 2028 Bergen Catholic (NJ) QB Trey Tagliaferri grew up as a fan of the Fighting Irish and committed to the program last week. Now, he's Boomer Sooner because the money was too good to turn down. Ben Arbuckle got a good one here.

You do have to wonder, with so much time left until signing day for the 2028 class, if Tagliaferri is using Oklahoma for leverage to get a better deal from Notre Dame. Cynicism aside, this was a great first get for the Sooners' 2028 class. If, of course, Oklahoma could keep it.

5-star WR chooses Oregon over LSU, Tennessee, and UCLA

Another New Jersey product, 5-star 2027 Glassboro WR Xavier Sabb went with the Ducks over the Bayou Bengals, Vols, and UCLA Bruins. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and WR coach Ross Douglas got the job done during Sabb's final visit to Eugene in June before his decision.

Sabb is a versatile weapon who could beat defenders for jump balls, blow past defenders as a YAC demon, and could even be utilized in the return game. His raw ability allows him to play defensive back as well, but his hands are too good to be a full-time defender. Sabb will be playing with Nebraska Cornhuskers transfer Dylan Raiola as his QB1 next year when he arrives in Western Oregon.

Ole Miss edges out Alabama and Mizzou for 4-star EDGE

On the other side of the ball, and away from the Garden State, 4-star White Station (TN) EDGE Antwan Jackson chose Ole Miss over Alabama and Mizzou. Jackson shared confidence that there's a plan in place in Oxford from Pete Golding and Co.

"What ultimately led me to choosing Ole Miss was the great people that are in the program and also the trust and relationships I have built with the coaches," Jackson stated. "What stood out most was how they are recruiting not just me but also elite players to play alongside me."

The Rebels are up to No. 12 in the 2027 composite team rankings, and based on Jackson's statement, could propel themselves into the top 10 by the time signing day goes down. Lane Kiffin who? In Golding they trust on The Grove.
