One of Auburn’s most used receivers the past two seasons has announced he intends to enter the transfer portal.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Malcolm Simmons is set to leave the Plains after two seasons.

As a sophomore, the Alexander City, Ala. native caught 25 passes for 457 yards and two touchdowns, including ending the season with 149 receiving yards against Mercer and 143 yards against Alabama, scoring a touchdown in both games.

As Auburn’s passing offense struggled early in the season, so did Simmons’ production, having just 119 receiving yards in the Tigers’ first nine games, going three games with no catches. In his freshman season in 2024, Simmons caught 40 passes for 451 yards and three scores.

Part of the Freeze Four in the 2024 signing class under former head coach Hugh Freeze, he is now the second player in that group to announce their intention to enter the portal, joining Perry Thompson
