Everything you need to know about Auburn football recruiting heading into signing day
It's a big day for head coach Hugh Freeze and the Auburn football program, which will be hoping to ink a top-five recruiting class as the early signing period kicks off. Heading into the day, the Tigers' class of 2025 is ranked #5 overall with 25 commits.
In the week leading up to signing day, the Tigers have lost two of their commits to other schools. The first is offensive tackle Tavaris Dice, who flipped from Auburn to Florida on November 30. Dice originally committed to the Tigers back in March, but was pressed hard by the Gators all summer. It's a long shot, but Auburn would still like the commitment of Dice. It should also be noted that the Gators have been pushing for another Auburn commit in 5-star Malik Autry even though confidence remains high.
The other is 4-star defensive lineman Nathanial Marshall, who flipped yesterday to Michigan. The Illinois native originally committed to the Wolverines back in April, but flipped his commitment to Auburn after a summer visit. It appears Michigan never gave up on the DL, who has decided to pledge allegiance to the Wolverines once again.
Most of the rest of Auburn football's class seems locked in, but there could always be surprises. 4-star cornerback Donovan Starr has had one ear open to Alabama recently, and is expected to wait until Friday to make his decision between Iron Bowl foes.
The Tigers are also looking to flip several recruits this week, with 5-star cornerback Na'eem Offord headlining the list. The Ohio State commit will make his final decision between the Buckeyes, Auburn, Florida, and Oregon today.
Another recruit to watch is 3-star defensive lineman Darrion Smith. The Tennessee commit has been pressed hard by Auburn football lately, and is expected to flip and sign with the Tigers today at 10:00 a.m. central time. It's about the same story for 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry—while the Georgia Bulldogs may be the leader here, the Tigers aren't giving up easily on Terry.
Finally, despite his recent visits to Ole Miss, confidence is high that 5-star quarterback Deuce Knight will remain steady in his commitment to the Tigers and sign with Auburn. He will hold a signing day ceremony at his high school at 9:00 a.m. central time.
