The Auburn Tigers are opening their 2025 college football season a little differently this year with a Friday night season opener in Waco, Texas. Not only is kickoff on a Friday, but the Tigers are also starting things off with a big matchup rather than a cupcake.

Throughout fall camp, several of the Tigers' wide receivers have been limited or out on certain days, including Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson and Eric Singleton Jr. Between working with the training staff, wearing no-contact jerseys, or playing through it, the Tigers' pass catchers have been riddled with minor injuries heading into the season.

Several weeks ago, star transfer receiver Eric Singleton Jr. suffered a bone bruise, which Freeze described as the worst of the injuries in the receiver room. Today, however, Freeze met with the media for the first game week press conference of the season, and he had good news regarding Singleton's status.

"He looked good yesterday (at practice); I think he's close to being 100 percent," Freeze said. "He'll be ready to give it a go, Lord willing."

As far as other injuries go, Freeze went on to say that those players who had not been previously ruled OUT are expected to be available to play on Friday against Baylor. Kicker Alex McPherson, who struggled with extensive abdominal issues throughout the last year, will undergo testing this week to determine his readiness for the season opener. Freeze mentioned that should McPherson not play, Towns McGough would likely get the starting nod.

The Tigers kick off their 2025 season this Friday against the Baylor Bears at 7:00 p.m. Central Time with the game broadcasting on Fox.
