Coming up this Saturday is Big Cat Weekend, the Auburn football program’s biggest summer recruiting event, and the visitor list is packed with prospects from the classes of 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The Tigers are heading into the weekend on the momentum of the recent commitment of 4-star edge Wilky Denaud, who chose Auburn football over Florida State, Indiana, and Tennessee earlier this week. However, it’s extremely important that the Tigers add another commit to the roster over the weekend.

While there are several names to watch in the recruiting class of 2024, there are two prospects in the class of 2023 that could be committed to head coach Bryan Harsin’s team before the end of July.

The first is current Nebraska commit Ashley Williams. The 4-star edge committed to the Huskers earlier this month, but the Auburn coaching staff has continued to recruit him hard. While there is a huge need for edge rushers on the Plains, Nebraska has three edge commits and Williams may get a better opportunity at Auburn.

It’s also important to note that while Williams is the #37 edge recruit in the class of 2023, he’s also the #18 prospect out of the state of Louisiana, where the Tigers–led by Trovon Reed–have worked hard to establish a recruiting funnel.

The other name to watch this weekend is 3-star offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson. The OL visited the Plains back in June, and has since risen up the board for the Tigers. According to 247 Sports, Wilson could potentially play tackle at the college level and has a versatility that the coaching staff really likes.

Both Ashley Williams and Gernorris Wilson are players that would help fill holes in the edge room and on the offensive line, and would be welcome additions to the Tigers’ 2023 roster. By the end of this weekend, Auburn football should have another commitment to celebrate.
