There are only so many ways to pre-eulogize the Bryan Harsin era of Auburn football before its unceremonious demise whenever the Auburn Board of Trustees finds an Athletic Director to make the axe and subsequent new hire.
With head coaches like Paul Chryst being dismissed after a single losing season that hadn’t even concluded yet, Harsin’s time on the Plains has shockingly extended beyond a blown 17-point lead at home against one of the most beatable SEC West teams on the schedule, LSU.
That and an unfathomable win against Missouri in Week 4, set Harsin up for a potentially brutal showing against Georgia on Saturday, October 8 in a Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry matchup the Tigers are 29-point underdogs for.
Whenever the plug is pulled on Harsin’s time as the head coach of Auburn football, Colorado could be a logical landing spot — so says national reporter Pete Thamel on ESPN’s College Gameday podcast, while also floating Arizona State as a potential landing spot:
"“Colorado’s a tough job. There are not a ton of great assistant coaches right now in the Pac-12 that are gonna be in the midst of that … well first of all there’s another Harsin landing spot too, right? If/when Auburn does what we all think they’re gonna do, Bryan Harsin would be a pretty good fit in Tempe, would be a pretty good fit in Boulder.”"
Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin predicted to be fired after Week 6
While there is certainly a level of surprise to Bryan Harsin being kept on after calling a Koy Moore passing play on a 2nd and goal situation in the fourth quarter, his firing wasn’t predicted to happen until Week 6 against Georgia.
Opelika-Auburn News deputy editor Justin Lee predicted the Dawgs to do away with the Boise native as Auburn football head coach, and oddsmakers are certainly prognosticating the same with a borderline disrespectful spread.
At least by the sounds of it, there will be plenty of landing spots for Harsin when this emotional orange and blue roller coaster concludes.
