Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff remain consistent in their pitches to recruits
With the arrival of head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff on the Plains, Auburn football has risen to a level of recruiting that has not been seen in many years. In fact, recruiting in some areas had even been in decline before the transition to Freeze, like the offensive linemen.
It was a challenge Freeze was willing to face, and the Tigers' recruiting has improved leaps and bounds with the last few recruiting classes, constantly adjusting to the modern-day challenges of recruiting like the transfer portal and NIL.
In 2024, Freeze and the Tigers landed a top 10 class and brought in one of the best groups of wide receivers Auburn football has ever seen. Now, the focus is on the class of 2025, which has the potential to be one of the Tigers' most highly-ranked recruiting classes in program history.
Freeze credited his recruiting staffers for their abillity to build strong relationships with prospects but said that really, Auburn speaks for itself.
"I think we’ve been consistent with our message," said head coach Hugh Freeze, per Auburn Rivals. "Our message is pretty simple: come and see. We think that Auburn has a different culture and environment than many. I’m not saying that’s for everyone or that we're better than someone else, but I do think we’re different."
The Tigers' recruiting class of 2025 is currently made up of 22 commits and is ranked #% overall. Several of those commits only hopped on board in the last few weeks during or right after Big Cat Weekend, and the momentum is continuing to build. With early signing day several months away, there is still time for more guys to commit to Auburn football.
"I’m pleased right now, we’re in the top 10 in the country, I think, and that’s where you have to stay if you want to compete," Freeze said. "If we can finish out with a few more pieces that we’re targeting I think we’ll have been able to stack the ‘25 class on top of the ‘24, which I think was a solid class, also. Pretty comfortable where we are right now."
