In a somewhat surprising move, it was announced earlier today that Auburn basketball guard Tre Donaldson will be entering the transfer portal after two seasons on the Plains.

Donaldson was recruited by both Auburn football and basketball, but ultimately chose Bruce Pearl's squad. He saw plenty of game action as a true freshman, and started 10 games in his sophomore season. In the 2023-2024 season, Donaldson averaged 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.

After the Tigers' early exit from the NCAA Tournament, Donaldson was accepting of the idea that Auburn would be going after a portal guard, but since then his camp has been looking into greater NIL opportunities, per Auburn Live.

A-Day on the Plains is this Saturday, and Tiger fans are getting excited to see the team back in action for the first time since the Music City Bowl. It will also be their first glimpse of some members of the 2024 recruiting class, like Cam Coleman.

It will be head coach Hugh Freeze's second A-Day at Auburn, and he plans to run this year's very similarly to last year's, though hopefully with much less rain. According to AL.com, the Auburn football defense will start the scrimmage with a 27 point lead and the offense will try to catch up and win.

“I’ll vary the field positions and see what happens. See if the offense can overtake the defense at 27-0,” Freeze said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “Obviously if the defense were to have a pick-six or a blocked field goal for a return, they would add to that. Barring they don’t do that it’s 27-0 and see if the offense can score 28 in the time allowed.”
