Auburn football edge target Jared Smith will announce his official commitment decision today

The Auburn football program has been riding high on recruiting momentum since Big Cat Weekend. Recruits from all over the country made their way to the Plains for the Tigers' biggest recruiting event, and several made the decision to jump on board that day or later the following week.

A trio of 2026 recruits announced their commitments at Big Cat and so did class of 2025 cornerback Blake Woodby. 4-star wide receiver Derick Smith made a splash when he flipped from Alabama to Auburn, and later on 4-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman did the same thing (for the second time). A few days later, 4-star safety Anquon Fegans announced his commitment at a ceremony in Birmingham.

The dominoes have been falling for the Tigers, and another one could tip over today. It's decision day for 4-star edge Jared Smith, who is ranked as the #2 edge in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #2 recruit out of the state of Alabama. He attends Thompson High School, and is teammates with the Tigers' most recent commit, Fegans.

The edge rusher is set to have a commitment ceremony in Birmingham and will choose between his top schools, which are Georgia, USC, Florida State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Auburn football.

Smith was most recently on the Plains for Big Cat Weekend, and after witnessing all the commitments he told the media that Auburn had 'definitely helped itself' in his recruitment. He has multiple predictions from experts and analysts at both On3 Sports and 247 Sports to end up choosing Auburn, and is projected to land with the Tigers on both sites.

Auburn football's class of 2025 currently holds 21 commits and is ranked #5 overall and #4 in the SEC. Should Smith choose the Tigers, he will be the second edge rusher in the class alongside Jakaleb Faulk.
