Coming off one of the worst seasons in years, there are much higher expectations for Auburn football in 2022. Head coach Bryan Harsin will coach the Tigers for a second year despite offseason drama and the changing of much of the coaching staff.

While Auburn football is rocking and rolling with the recruiting class of 2023, the 2022 class was not as great as many hoped it would be, and some people are counting the Tigers out of the race for the 2022 SEC Championship.

Big Game Boomer made a way-too-early prediction on Twitter that got Auburn football fans riled up, projecting that the Tigers would finish seventh–in last place–in the SEC West this fall:

Despite the fact that Texas A&M pulled in the best recruiting class of all college programs in 2022, BGB still predicts that Georgia and Alabama will come out on top, with Nick Saban’s program ultimately taking the SEC title in December.

However, plenty of fans were surprised that Auburn was slotted to finish last, behind programs that the Tigers typically dominate in conference play.

Though the Tigers still had holes in the roster heading into spring practice, the coaching staff has been mining the NCAA transfer portal to fill the gaps, bringing in players like WR Dazalin Worsham, defensive lineman Morris Joseph, and safety Craig McDonald.

With the returning and incoming talent, as well as a mostly-new coaching staff, people should fully expect Bryan Harsin to bounce back in 2022 and turn things around from the unfortunate last half of his first season.
